| Q. What
kind of printing process is used to generate the
artwork?
A. Our artwork is produced using an Epson 9600
wide format inkjet printer. This machine can generate
images with a maximum resolution of 2880dpi x
1440dpi (giclee quality). It can also print artwork
up to 44 inches wide by almost any length imaginable.
Q. What kind of printing process is used
to generate the photo gifts?
A. Images are transferred to hard surfaces and
textile surfaces of photo gifts by a process called
dye sublimation. This involves heating the media
to a point where the ink can be embedded into
the surface of the gift. This makes for a very
hardwearing product where the ink cannot be scratched
off.
Q. How lightfast will a
print be?
A. We use Epson’s pigment based Ultra Chrome
archival inks to produce our artwork. Epson states
that these inks will produce a print that is lightfast
for upwards of 75years (please note this applies
to prints that are not placed in direct sunlight).
The dye sublimation process produces a print that
is exceptionally long lasting.
Q. Does it matter who owns
the copyright for an image?
A. You must own the copyright (or have written
permission from the owner of the copyright allowing
reproduction) before we can print your image (this
is an important condition of our standard terms).
If the image is a photograph or artwork that you
have taken/produced yourself then you own the
copyright. If, however, you have commissioned
the work (e.g. you have asked a professional photographer
or an artist to produce a wedding photograph or
a painting) then it is highly likely that you
will not own the copyright. But don't worry; if
this is the case we are happy to assist you in
trying to obtain written permission.
Q. What kind of canvas
and art paper is used to produce my artwork?
A. We use artist grade fine art media (Hahnemuhle).
Q. What kind of stretcher
bars do you use?
A. We use three thicknesses of lipped stretcher
bars and they are all supplied with tension wedges
and a hanging bracket. Our ¾" deep
bars are made from kiln-dried Pine and they are
“artist quality”; our 1" deep
bars are made from laminated Pine which improves
the strength of each bar and our 1¼"
deep stretcher bars are made from high quality
Tulip wood. Tulip wood comes from the largest
hardwood tree in the United States and the bars
it produces are remarkably tough, strong and straight.
Our Tulip wood bars are regarded as being one
of the finest stretcher bars available in the
UK.
Q. Is the surface of the
printed canvas sealed or protected in any way?
A. The printed canvas is sealed (unless otherwise
instructed) with two coats of 'liquid laminate'.
Each coat is hand applied and the finished surface
of the canvas takes on the appearance of a semi
gloss varnish finish, as seen on traditional oil
paintings. This coating helps enhance the colours
of the print, protects the surface from scratching
and improves ultraviolet protection. The finished
surface is also ‘wipe clean’.
Q. Will I see a proof at
any time prior to my print being produced?
A. Prior to finalising your order we will email
you the details of a web page you can visit to
view a proof. This page will also detail the cost
of the print. Once you have viewed this page and
submitted your acceptance we will finalise the
collection of your payment and produce your print.
Q. How quickly will I see
a proof?
A. We aim to have proofs ready on a next working
day basis, however we often have them ready the
same day.
Q. How quickly can you
deliver my order?
A. Prints on paper media are dispatched within
3 working days, canvas prints being stretched
on Pine bars are dispatched within 5 working days
and canvas prints being stretched on Tulip wood
are dispatched within 10 working days. Delivery
times are different because paper prints do not
need to be stretched or coated, Pine stretcher
bars are a stock item for us and Tulip wood stretcher
bars are ordered in specifically for each print
produced. Photo Gifts are dispatched within 3
working days. If you need a print faster than
the times noted above please let us know and we
will do our best to meet your requirements.
Q. How will my order be
packaged for delivery?
A. Prints are bubble wrapped then corner protectors
are fitted. Following this, a tough cardboard
sheet is cut to size and fixed to the front of
the print. Finally, a layer of protective corrugated
cardboard is added to the packaging before our
courier delivers it your designated address.
Q. Can my order be delivered
outwith the UK?
A. Prints can be delivered anywhere in the world.
If you require delivery outwith the UK please
